The Folly is one of the very few theaters in the nation that retains a rare piece of theater mechanization: the windlass. Used to hoist scenery into the gallery spaces above the stage for painting and repair, the windlass is part of the original building design by Louis Curtiss and dates to the building's opening in 1900.
