The stagehouse (everything behind the proscenium arch) is still as Louis Curtiss designed it in 1898 for the 1900 opening. This bridge crosses between the fly galleries in order to avoid having to descend 34-feet of ladder, walk across the stage, then back up another 34 feet. Note the pin rail in the foreground of the photo. The pin rail is original to the building. Note the grooves in the bottom from years of rope boring into the wood. |
