The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit
Hudson Vagabond Puppets
Wed. Jan. 23, 2008

Giant puppets dance and act in narrated ballets
to these two beloved Beatrix Potter stories with
music by William Walton. This full-scale theatrical
production from New York’s award-winning Hudson Vagabond
Puppets uses costumes and larger-than-life-size rod
puppets up to 8 feet tall!
The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck is about an absent-minded
duck, Jemima, who takes flight on a fine spring day
in search of a place to lay her eggs. Jemima meets
a handsome foxy-whiskered gentleman who invites her
to lay eggs in his shed. One day he suggests that
they should have dinner together. Little does she
know that duck soup is on the menu! An honest collie
and two rowdy foxhound puppies help save the day.
In The Story of A Fierce Bad Rabbit, the Fierce Bad
Rabbit and the Nice Gentle Rabbit argue over the
ownership of a carrot. He takes the carrot with out
even saying please! After a brief skirmish with a
Hunter, the Fierce Bad Rabbit lives to regret his
bad manners.

Buffalo Soldier
Theatre IV Production / Co-produced by the
Virginia Historical Society
Wednesday, February 6, 2008
9:30 & 11:30 AM
A Best American Plays for Young Audiences selection,
Buffalo Soldier was performed at the Pentagon in
honor of African American History Month. This exciting
play combines drama with music to tell the story
of Jones Morgan, who, at 110 years old, was the last
surviving Buffalo Soldier and longest living veteran
from the Spanish American War. Throughout American
history, the Buffalo Soldiers distinguished themselves
and became some of the most decorated U.S. military
regiments of all time, with eighteen men receiving
the Medal of Honor.
This Theatre IV classic production will inspire your
children as it teaches them about the brave soldiers
of the 9th and 10th Cavalries who served our country
well, despite receiving little of the recognition
they deserved.

"Music Explorations: A Jazz Journey"
A Folly Theater Production
Friday, April 25, 2008
9:30 & 11:30 AM
Back for a fourth presentation! Join with a
group of stellar Kansas City musicians as we depart
on a narrated journey of musical
“time travel” to explore the evolution of America’s
original musical art form – JAZZ! Starting in the
early 1900s, we will explore how Ragtime music combined
with Blues from the American South to create the
earliest sounds of New Orleans Jazz. Journeying up
the river to Chicago, we will discover the toetappin’
hot jazz style of the “The Roaring 20s.” Traveling
into the 1930s and the Swing era, we will discover
how the Kansas City style of jazz placed our hometown
forever in the music history books. The exciting
sounds of Bebop and beyond will take us to New York
and around the world as we highlight the various
styles of modern jazz right up to the present.
